Artist Statement
Lee’s landscapes explore the concept of collective psychological phobia derived from society. By incorporating mediums such as video, drawing, sculpture and installation into her practice, she investigates the intrinsic sense of fear and anxiety by looking into the unconscious.
Her interest lies in discovering the extent to how much the term and notion of ‘landscape’ can hold. This process predominantly involves considering the sense of void between primal senses or emotions that derive from being aware or conscious of darkness.

그렇게 작가가 꿈꾸는 일을 받아들이는 개인적 상황 속에서 스스로에게 부여된 어둠, 질병, 좌절, 공포와 같은 부정적 심리적 작용을 다시 빛, 치유, 희망, 안정으로 이르게 하는 심리적 변화를 보게 된다. 작가의 <몽상의 방>은 자신의 일체의 경험이 용융된 객관화된 심리적 추체험의 구조로 독해된다. 자신의 심리적 징후와 극복의 공간이자, 이에 대한 근원적인 토대로서의 꿈과 현실의 경계를 객관화하는 구조이기 때문이다. 작가의 모든 심리적, 물리적 체험은 오히려 큐브를 통해 객관적 실체로 드러남으로써 또 다른 국면을 맞이함을 안다. 적어도 작가는 스스로 맞이한 내면의 긴장과 공포의 단면들을 시각적 구조물을 통해 표출함으로써 용인을 넘어 자기이해의 과정을 충분히 여과하고 있을 것이기 때문이다. 또한 이것은 삶의 파토스적 에너지가 아니라 에로스적 욕망이 강하게 작가 내면에 일렁이고 있음을 느끼게 하는 대목이기도 하다. 즉 자신의 독백과 같은 심리적 추체험의 큐브는 내면의 긴장을 넘어서 안정으로 가는 그 길목에 있음을 충분히 가시화하고 있다.
