여 어데고, 거 언젠데? 니 누꼬! ​

관객은 그림을 통해 나를 해석하고, 그림은 나를 보여줍니다.

한국의 첫전시에서 선보이는 작품들은 일상 속 풍경들과 경험들, 잊혀진 기억들 등 내 삶의 다양한 이야기들의 기록입니다. 이 작품들을 매개로 관객들은 일본에 살고 있는 한번 만나본 적 없는 나와 내 가족, 내 친구 그리고 나와 관련된 사건들을 경험하게 될 것입니다.

전시는 음식으로 규정되는 정체성(특히 돼지고기의 경우와 같은) 때문에 겪었던 어려움, 그로인한 문화적 갈등을 다룬 초기의 작품들과 스마트폰으로 촬영한 이미지들을 모티프로 삼아 작업한 최근 작품들로 구성했습니다. 사진 이미지를 화폭으로 옮겨와 새로운 감각으로 변형을 시도하고 물감의 질감을 부여해  또 다른 기록으로 표현하고자 했습니다. 

전시 제목 ‘여 어데고, 거 언젠데? 니 누꼬!’( ここどこやねん、それいつやねん、お前誰やねん)는 오사카 방언을 부산 사투리로 번역한 것입니다. 언제, 왜 찍었는지도 기억 안나는 스마트폰 속 사진들을 기반으로 작품을 제작할 때, 나는 스스로에게 대체 여기가 어딘지, 그게 언제였는지, 그리고 심지어는 그 속의 사람이 누군지를 오사카 사투리로 묻곤 합니다. 나의 왜곡되고 변형된 기억을 바탕으로 제작된 작품을 마주한 관객들도 같은 의문이 들지도 모르겠다는 생각이 듭니다. 그리고 또 어쩌면, 고개를 갸우뚱 기울이고 있는 한국관객을 마주하는 나의 그림들 또한 관객을 향해 ‘여 어데고?, 니 누꼬?’라고 묻고 있을지도 모른다는 상상을 해보기도 합니다.

Where is this place, What is that? Who are you!​

The audience interprets me through my paintings, and the paintings reveal who I am.

The works presented in my first exhibition in Korea are records of various stories from my life, including everyday landscapes, experiences, and forgotten memories. Through these works, the audience will encounter me, my family, my friends, and events related to me, all living in Japan, whom they have never met before.

The exhibition consists of my early works, which address the difficulties and cultural conflicts I faced due to identity defined by food (particularly in cases involving pork), and my recent works inspired by images taken with a smartphone. I transferred these photographic images onto the canvas, attempting to transform them with a new sensibility and express them as new records by adding the texture of paint.

The exhibition title, "Where is this place, When is that? Who are you!" (ここどこやねん、それいつやねん、お前誰やねん), is translated from the Osaka dialect. When creating works based on smartphone photos, the time and reason for which I don't remember, I often ask myself where this is, when it was, and even who is in the photo. I imagine that the audience, facing my works created from distorted and transformed memories, might have the same questions. I also sometimes imagine that my paintings, facing the puzzled Korean audience, might be asking them, "Where is this place, When is that? Who are you!"
